The public is invited to attend a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Promenade Square Park Tot Lot located at The Promenade North and East First Street, on Saturday, June 4, at 10:00 am.

“This new tot lot will serve the many growing families in the Downtown core,” said Mayor Robert Garcia. “I am proud and grateful for the community creating the vision for this tot lot and helping to fund it.”

The Tot Lot will include a slide, several climbing structures and climbing rocks, a park bench, and playground safety surfacing. The design will complement the design elements of Promenade Square Park and The Promenade. The nearest playground is more than one mile away.

“Our friends and neighbors saw the possibility of this new tot lot, and we have worked tirelessly and given generously to make it a reality,” said Vice Mayor Suja Lowenthal. “This is very important to the community and I am glad we are finally able to break ground and move towards completion.”

The total project cost is $192,000, and is supported with $75,000 in one-time infrastructure funds from the Office of Vice Mayor Suja Lowenthal; $20,000 from Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe; $10,000 from the Downtown Long Beach Associates; $7,300 raised by the Promenade Area Residents Association; and $5,000 from the Molina Family Trust.
