On Wednesday, December 2, 2015, multiple felony charges were filed against Hawthorne resident Dominick Blair Roberson, 26, for his involvement in multiple armed robberies in the Cities of Long Beach, Westminster, Torrance, and La Puente.
On October 9, 2015, about 3:45 a.m., a male suspect armed with a handgun approached a female adult victim in the 1900 block of Greenbrier Road, in Long Beach. The victim was returning from a nearby casino when the suspect approached her, demanded her property, and ran away. Fortunately, the victim was not injured during the robbery.
While L.B.P.D. Robbery Detective F. Gonzalez was investigating the incident, he learned that similar robberies occurred in the City of Westminster and the County of Los Angeles. Long Beach and Westminster detectives subsequently worked with detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s and Torrance Police Departments. The investigators believed the same suspect was responsible for the robberies in their respective jurisdictions and were able to link Dominick Roberson to them. The incidents included:
- one armed robbery in Westminster on October 8, 2015
- two armed robberies in Westminster on October 12, 2015
- one armed robbery in Torrance on October 21, 2015, and
- one armed robbery in La Puente on November 9, 2015.
Long Beach Police arrested Roberson in Gardena on November 9, 2015, for the October 9th incident. On November 12, 2015, the case was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office who charged Roberson with one count of armed robbery. On December 2, 2015, Defendant Roberson was arraigned for five additional counts of armed robbery that occurred in the other cities.
The investigations remain ongoing. Anyone who may information regarding the Long Beach robbery is asked to contact Robbery Detective F. Gonzalez at (562) 570-7068.
