The Long Beach/Lakewood Chapter of Hearing Loss Assoc. to Show “Chris Artinian: A Cochlear Implant for his Son”
2012-01-23 · By Editor
The Long Beach/Lakewood Chapter of Hearing Loss Association of America will be showing the video of Chris Artinian, the keynote speaker at the National Convention of HLAA in 2011. He and his 11 year old son appeared at the convention.
Chris grew up in a deaf family and was the only hearing child. When his twin sons were born, one of them was born deaf. He and his wife decided to have a cochlear implant and his entire family disowned him. They asked him “wasn’t it good enough to grow up in a deaf family?” The young son is a leader in his class and fully integrated into the mainstream. The family has since forgiven Chris.
Artinian, president and chief executive officer of Morton’s Restaurant Group, Inc. delivered the keynote address during the Opening Session.
No reservations are necessary and admission is free. For more information, please call 562-438-0597 or visit www.hlalongbeachlakewood.org. Light refreshments are served.
