The Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) has announced that ICDC College’s South Bay Campus received the 2010-2011 ACCSC School of Excellence Award.
Alistair Curamen, ICDC College South Bay Campus Director, will receive the 2010-2011 School of Excellence award at ACCSC’s fifth annual Professional Development Conference to be held on September 19-21 in Long Beach, California. The theme of the conference, “A Community of Partners in Education” will highlight partnership building within the higher education community.
Upon receiving the notification letter from ACCSC announcing that his campus would receive the School of Excellence award, Mr. Curamen said, “We are truly honored to receive the ACCSC School of Excellence award, and on behalf of the entire South Bay campus, I affirm that ICDC College will continue to uphold our commitment to providing quality education to every student who comes through our doors. We are committed to operating in the utmost good faith and integrity at every level of our organization, and we are proud to be an accredited institution of the ACCSC.”
The School of Excellence designation is the highest-level of achievement given to those ACCSC-accredited institutions that meet or exceed the expectations and rigors of the commission in regards to the standards of accreditation, along with graduation and employment rates. It also recognizes a school’s commitment to delivering high quality education to its students. This achievement elevates ICDC College to a very select group of schools which have received honors of excellence and/or distinction from the ACCSC for all of their campus locations. In 2010, the ACCSC bestowed this honor upon only 9 of its 800 post-secondary institutions across the United States.
During last year’s ACCSC awards ceremony in Philadelphia, PA, ICDC College received three prestigious awards in two separate categories: the 2009-2010 School of Distinction for its Hollywood and Huntington Park campuses, and the 2009-2010 Graduate of the Year. Vickie Knight, a 59-year-old graduate of the Alcohol and Drug Counseling program at the Hollywood campus, received the Graduate of the Year award. Ms. Knight had completed her Alcohol and Drug Counseling certificate at ICDC College while living in a homeless shelter in downtown Los Angeles. At the ACCSC award ceremony held at the Ritz Carlton in Philadelphia, Ms. Knight received a standing ovation for her outstanding scholastic achievement, leadership and perseverance in completing her certificate while facing extreme personal adversity.
