2012-04-19 · By Editor
Members of seven service clubs in Long Beach will meet next month to celebrate their common cause of service to the community and the world at large. Join the Lions, Rotary, Exchange, KIwanis, Jr. Chamber, Optimist, Soroptimist, and Altrusa for a program dedicated to youth volunteers in the community.
The Keynote Speaker for the event will be Danny A. Romero, KABC meteorologist and host of “Cool Kids,” an Eyewitness News program that honors deserving youths who help out in the community.
Romero is involved with many helpful organizations around Southern California. Even before three bouts with cancer, he worked with the American Cancer Society, MDA, UCP, March of Dimes, MS Society, Boys and Girls Clubs, The Downtown L.A. Mission and many more. Romero was born and raised on the streets of East Los Angeles. He and his family moved all over the greater L.A. area.
Begun by the late Downtown Long Beach Lions member Vito Romans, the 42nd annual Inter Service Club Luncheon will take place on Wednesday, May 2, 11:30-1:30, at the Grand Event Center, 4101 East Willow, Long Beach.
