A six-month drug dealing investigation focused on a North Long Beach business culminated Wednesday with the arrest of 4 people and the recovery of narcotics, narcotic paraphernalia, money, and stolen firearms.
In October of 2010, detectives were informed that the owner of a tee-shirt business on the 800 block of East South Street, in North Long Beach, was selling narcotics from the business. Detectives began an extensive investigation and learned that the owner of the store, Raul Rodriguez, a 26-year-old resident of Long Beach, along with his two brothers, 23-year old Miguel Rodriguez and 20 year-old Edgar Rodriguez, both residents of Long Beach as well, were also involved in sales and transportation of narcotics.
On April 13, 2011, Long Beach Police Narcotic Detectives, assisted by officers from the Directed Enforcement Team (DET), the Violent Sexual Predator Team (VSPU), K-9 officers and the Warrant Detail served 5 search warrants simultaneously in three different locations in Long Beach, one in Bellflower and one in Compton. As a result of this search warrant service, detectives recovered narcotics, narcotic packaging materials and scales, and numerous firearms including a rifle and two shotguns of which several were stolen.
The three Rodriguez brothers, along with a female, 26-year-old Zoraida Luquin of Long Beach, were all arrested and charged with various crimes, including transportation and sales of narcotics, receiving stolen property and child endangerment due to the accessibility of the firearms to the children hidden in their bedroom.
