Sixth District Councilman Dee Andrews, along with Redevelopment Agency, and Poly High School will be honoring Poly Alumni Jenni Rivera. Ms. Rivera will receive her star on Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at the Poly Walk of Fame Ceremony, located at Polytechnic High School Stadium.
Councilman Andrews is pleased to acknowledge the extraordinary achievements of Ms. Rivera. She is the #1 international Latin singing sensation. “Jenni has such an incredible career right now. She is taking the entertainment and business worlds by storm and shows no signs of slowing down. She is an inspiration to us all and her star on the Walk of Fame will remind us to keep reaching for our dreams”. Jenni is excited about returning home to receive this honor from Councilman Andrews and Poly High.
“Since I began recording music in 1993, I’ve received numerous awards and valuable recognitions. Every single one is very significant. However, to receive an acknowledgment from where ‘it all began”….is the ultimate honor. Everywhere my music career has taken me I have always proudly mentioned that I am from Long Beach and that I attended the home of Scholars and Champions…Poly High School. Thank you!”
Jenni Rivera is the fifth honoree selected to receive a star on the Poly Walk of Fame. Former Mayor Beverly O’Neill, Grammy Winner Thelma Houston, former NFL Player Willie Brown and Tennis Star Billie Jean King stars were unveiled on July 9th. Shortly after this ceremony all the stars will hang on Poly’s back fence along Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue which is a very popular and heavily used street in the Sixth District.
The Poly Walk of Fame Ceremony honoring Jenni Rivera is Tuesday, July 26, 2011, from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm, at the Polytechnic High School Stadium, 1600 Atlantic Avenue, Long Beach, CA.
