The Long Beach Jordan High School, WRAP Program is please to announce the Youth Empowerment Conference “Beyond This Moment,” Saturday, April 13, at Jordan High School.
This High School/Youth Led produced event will be transported to students from all over the greater Long Beach area to discuss the problems that plague our teens. From bullying to managing anger, this conference was created to tackle the issues that teens are faced with every day so that they can move beyond the moment to one of self-empowerment.
Jordan High School WRAP coordinator Candace Meeham has been working with the youth for years and supporting the program. “It has been really wonderful to see the youth come forward with such passion to empower themselves and other youth in their community”, said Meeham. “Every idea and workshop came from the Jordan WRAP youth”.
Collaborating partners alongside the Jordan WRAP Leaders for the event include the Long Beach GRIP Program, Interval House, California Families in Focus, and the Order of Hip Hop. The day-long event will include workshops by the Long Beach City Prosecutor, Doug Haubert, WRAP Xi/Omega Leaders, California Families in Focus, CCEJ Youth Leaders, YWCA, the Women’s Shelter of Long Beach, Casa Youth Shelter, EM3, Cambodian Association of America, as well as special performances by the Xi/Omega Step Dancers, Polynesian Dancers, and Latin American Dancers.
