Long Beach School Board candidate Megan Kerr announced today that she has secured the endorsements of current School Board Members Mary Stanton and Jon Meyer in the race for the School Board’s 1st District.
“It is an absolute honor to have the endorsements of School Board Members Stanton and Meyer, who I have been privileged to work with over the past several years,” said Kerr. “I am grateful to know they trust me to continue their work increasing graduation rates, closing the achievement gap, and preparing all LBUSD kids for higher education and the workforce.”
Board Member Mary Stanton currently represents the 1st District, which covers North Long Beach, and will be retiring from the Board at the end of the term. Board Member Jon Meyer represents the 4th District, which covers the East Side of Long Beach and the Cities of Signal Hill and Avalon.
“Megan Kerr is one of the most dedicated advocates for education in all of California,” said Stanton. “Her work with School Site Councils and district-wide committees, and as Long Beach Council PTA School Board Liaison, has had a tremendous and positive impact on the lives of thousands of students and their families. She will continue to be an outstanding advocate for the families of District 1.”
“Megan Kerr is well-known as an accessible figure to her fellow parents, empowering them to get involved in their children’s education,” said Meyer. “She is by far one of the hardest working individuals for Long Beach schools and I look forward to continuing to work with her on the School Board in the next term.”
