Kids on the Ball: Rancho Los Alamitos hosts Global Game Day and Harvest Festival

rancho los alamitos harvest festivalRancho Los Alamitos Historic Ranch and Gardens will be the site of an afternoon of international fun. Bring the whole family to Kids on the Ball: A Global Game Day and Harvest Festival on Sunday, October 31 from noon until 4:30 p.m.

Kids and adults will be treated to amazing tricks and feats with balls and all things round by the Jumbo Shrimp Circus. The Southern California Band Organs will entertain the crowd with happy tunes and lead the costume parade at 2:00 p.m.

Harvest Festival attendees who fill their game cards can win prizes by playing international ball games and competitions throughout the gardens. Kids will have the chance to create crafts representing harvest lore from around the globe.

An exhibit of intricately woven straw harvest symbols from around the world will be featured by the American Museum of Straw Art and guests shown how to make their own harvest straw knot.

Also on display  at the Harvest Festival will be “Cool Globes – Art with a Purpose” created by the students of Los Cerritos Elementary School. Festival-goers can explore the traditions of The Day of the Dead with an exhibit of Hispanic cultural folk art presented by Amigas De La Cultura. Alice Rumbaugh will discuss the traditions, preparations, and symbols associated with Day of the Dead at 3:00 p.m. in the Ramada Tent.

Free admission to the Global Game Day and Harvest Festival is made possible by the following sponsors: Rancho Los Alamitos Foundation, The RLA Volunteer Service Council and Melissa’s Produce. Refreshments will be available at a reasonable cost.

Rancho Los Alamitos is located at 6400 East Bixby Hill Road in Long Beach, California. Free parking for Kids on the Ball!
