“You have thirteen hours in which to solve the labyrinth, before your baby brother becomes one of us… forever…”
What happens when Jim Henson, George Lucas, and David Bowie throw a party in the mid-80′s? Find out Friday, December 3 when Long Beach Cinematheque presents the 1986 movie Labyrinth at The Art Theatre.
Years before more adult roles in films such as “Requiem for a Dream” and “A Beautiful Mind,” Jennifer Connelly plays Sarah, a teenager who is frustrated to keep having to babysit her baby brother Toby. While trying to keep Toby from crying by telling him a fairy tale one night, Sarah inadvertently conjures the Goblin King – played by none other than David Bowie! – who steals the child and brings him to his castle in the middle of a labyrinth. Sarah must rescue him before midnight – or the baby will became a goblin!
A family fantasy favorite that became a midnight cult classic akin to “The Goonies” and “The Princess Bride,” Labyrinth comes to The Art Theatre in a newly remastered digital format, featuring Bowie in full TrueHD 5.1 channel greatness.
Labyrinth will screen Friday, December 3, at 11:59 p.m. at the Art Theatre of Long Beach, 2025 E. 4th St. Long Beach, CA 90814. Tickets on sale at the Art Theatre box office, or online by clicking here.
