On Saturday, March 31, the Long Beach Lambda Democratic Club, along with more than a dozen community and elected leaders of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community, will co-host a LGBT fundraiser for State Senator Alan Lowenthal who is running for the newly drawn 47th Congressional district.
“Sen. Lowenthal has been a leader for LGBT rights for more than 20 years and it is critical that we have a fighter in Congress representing Long Beach and the entire 47th Congressional district,” said Herlinda Chico, Lambda’s Executive Vice President.
Like Lowenthal, Chico is a longtime ally for the LGBT community and sees the upcoming fundraiser as an opportunity to help elect the only Democrat running in this race. “The alternatives do not represent the values of our diverse community,” Chico added.
The fundraiser for Sen. Lowenthal will be held on Sat., March 31, 2012 at La Traviata from 1 p.m. to 3p.m. For more information and to RSVP, write to firstname.lastname@example.org or visit www.alanlowenthal.com.
La Traviata Restaurant Bar Lounge is located at 301 Cedar Avenue (corner of Cedar and 3rd). For directions and information call (562) 432-8022.
Long Beach Lambda Democratic Club was formed as a Democratic Club under the guidelines and affiliation of the California Democratic Party and the California Democratic Council with the purpose of furthering the human and civil rights of all minorities, especially those of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people.
