Land Meets Sea Sports Camp Offers Opportunities For People With Physical Disabilities

The Camp, a 2011 Long Beach Sea Festival event, runs from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. each day at various locations around greater Long Beach, including Marine Stadium, Belmont Pool, Granada Ave. Boat Launch, Mother’s Beach, Pierpoint Landing and the U.S. Sailing Center.
Open to individuals with physical disabilities from ages four and up, the camp gives attendees an opportunity to experience sports incorporating water, land, recreation and competitive sports.
Beginners, as well as more experienced campers, can take part in basketball, water skiing, sailing, hot air balloon rides, outrigger canoeing, deep-sea fishing, hand cycling, hockey, harbor cruises, tennis, power soccer, kayaking, football, jet-skiing, quad rugby, Discover Scuba and softball.
The cost for the Land Meets Sea Sports Camp is $415 per camper, and includes participation in all events, lunch, goodie bag and t-shirt.
A special one-day Kid’s Kamp is also available on Wed., August 10 from 9 a.m. to 4 pm. for $115. The camp includes a range of activities from crafts to sandcastle building and sailing. For more information, call (909) 596-7733, ext. 2200.
