Laughing Stock Development Brings Bleeding-Edge Comedy to the All-American Melodrama Theater
2010-06-03 · By Editor
As the oldest comedy troupe in Long Beach, Laughing Stock Development is dedicated to bringing a comedic renaissance to the city that birthed it. With a unique mix of improv, live sketch, and filmed sketch comedy, the troupe is now bringing their comic vision to the All American Melodrama Theater in Shoreline Village. Fresh back from headlining the Colorado Improv Festival, the comics will perform at 10pm on both Saturday, June 5th and Saturday, June 19th, lending their more adult style to the Melodrama’s already stellar family-friendly line-up.
Founded in 2005, Laughing Stock Development was created with the desire to bring a signature comedy troupe – like the Groundlings in Los Angeles or Second City in Chicago – to the city. And while the troupe’s members have been trained by the likes of Second City, IO, and ComedySportz, they have crafted a style of comedy that belongs distinctly to Long Beach.
Composed entirely of local comedians, Laughing Stock Development combines razor-sharp wit, satire, and their signature “Danger Games” (games like “Mousetraps,” where they perform a scene blindfolded and barefoot with live mousetraps set on stage) to craft a show unlike any other. The troupe is proud to be performing at the All American Melodrama Theater, and to continue to share their passion for laughter with the city they love.
The All American Melodrama Theater is located at 429 Shoreline Village Drive, Long Beach, CA 90802. The theater offers beer and a full menu. Tickets can be reserved by calling (562)-495-5900.
