lbt-dog-houseIt was a “ruff” project to take on, but the staff at Long Beach Transit was panting with excitement when they found out they had the opportunity to create a custom dog house to compete for Best in Show in the Long Beach Convention & Visitor Bureau’s 2nd Annual Dog House Decorating Contest.

The team was provided a wooden dog house and created a mobile home “Pawsport,” named after the popular downtown Passport shuttles. Real bus flooring and bus seat fabric was recycled and used inside the Pawsport dog house, which comfortably seats 10 plush dogs.

The bus stop sign displays the fare – two kibbles and one bit – and bus riding etiquette, which includes: no chewing, no barking, and keeping your tongue and paws in the bus at all times.

First place winnings of $3,500 will be donated to Long Beach City College Foundation: Long Beach College Promise, benefiting student scholarships and The Center Long Beach.
