Sunny Zia candidate for Long Beach Community College’s 3rd District
Downtown resident Sunny Zia announced her candidacy today for Long Beach Community College’s 3rd District. The district encompasses most of Council Districts 1 and 2.
The public is welcomed to meet Senator Alan Lowenthal (D) and Councilmember Gary DeLong (R), the 47th Congressional District of California’s candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives, at the Alamitos Beach Neighborhood Association’s monthly meeting.
On Saturday, March 31, the Long Beach Lambda Democratic Club, along with more than a dozen community and elected leaders of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community, will co-host a LGBT fundraiser for State Senator Alan Lowenthal who is running for the newly drawn 47th Congressional district.

Governor Jerry Brown has signed SB 650, the Long Beach College Promise Act, authored by State Senator Alan Lowenthal. The legislation was sponsored by both Long Beach City College and the Long Beach Unified School District to support the Long Beach College Promise: a seamless education program designed to increase college success for students in Greater Long Beach.
