Long Beach Arts Month
October is Arts Month in Long Beach, and the community is invited to attend a forum on public art on Sunday, October 11, 3:00 to 5:00 pm, at Stearns Champions Park Community Center, 4520 East 23rd Street.

In observance of the Dylan Thomas Centennial on Sunday, October 26, folksinger/educator Ross Altman and the Found Theatre will host a very special celebration featuring the work of the brilliant Welsh poet and his superstar namesake, Bob Dylan (aka Bob Zimmerman).

A gala reception Saturday, Oct. 4, will kick off a month-long art exhibition showcasing the Port of Long Beach in images captured by professional and amateur photographers.
The show, “Port of Long Beach PHOTOGALLERY,” will be held at the Liberty Gallery and Event Space, 6-10 p.m., at 435 Alamitos Ave., in conjunction with Long Beach Arts Month.
Every month we celebrate the arts, but in October First Fridays is going BIG! Art-Ober honors those creative souls painting, sculpting, and strumming to their own beat.
Enjoy: Live art and interactive art activities, local band MOVE will perform Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety in front of the BKBIA office; pop-up art galleries; photo ops; indie rock; politicos; break dancers; goats and chickens; chalk zones; live sculptures; the Knolls Ranger’s 132nd birthday party at Oh Very Young; free books; gift items; antiques; the Big Red Bus; and plenty of the unexpected.

East 7th Street will be reimagined during October with events that show off local art and businesses.
During October’s Art Month, local artists and residents take to the street – East 7th Street – to envision the possibilities for this important Long Beach thoroughfare.
Long Beach area artists of all mediums and skill levels are invited to the new Bungalow Art Center, located in downtown Long Beach at 727 Pine Avenue, on October 27, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for valuable workshops on the critical business skills necessary for success in the arts.
