Long Beach beach cleanup
Sat., Jan. 16, 2016: 200th consecutive month, 1 Granada Ave. Justin Rudd and his Community Action Team have been hosting the monthly cleanup since June 1999. Approx. 100 volunteers of all ages attend to help rid the sand of debris, so our beach remains clean and safe.
Justin Rudd’s nonprofit Community Action Team (C.A.T.) Will Donate $10 for EVERY person (up to $2,000) that participates in the 30-Mintue Beach Cleanup and Long Beach Polar Splash tomorrow, Saturday, January 19, 2013.
At 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2012, the annual Long Beach Christmas Cookie Contest private judging by the Los Angeles Times food editor, Russ Parsons; Press-Telegram columnist, Tim Grobaty; Santa Claus, and Miss Southern California Cities, Rachel Oblon; will take place beachfront behind red velvet ropes and underneath creamy white canopies.
Are you cold-hearted when it comes to charity? Maybe it’s time you chilled out! On January 21, head down to Belmont Shore for the Long Beach Polar Splash & Doggie Dip. The event is a free opportunity to raise some cold hard cash for several worthy charities.
The 5th annual Southern California-wide 12-week team weight-loss contest called “Long Beach Losers” begins Sat., Aug. 27 with official weigh-ins of 600-800 expected participants from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Belmont Shore.
On Saturday, September 17 from 9:00 a.m. to noon the California Coastal Commission and the City of Long Beach invite locals to make a difference at Coastal Cleanup Day. This annual event is a great opportunity for volunteers of all ages to help keep our beaches clean and healthy.
The public is invited to join the Community Action Team and its founder Justin Rudd at the 145th consecutive monthly “30-Minute Beach Cleanup” at 10 a.m. on Sat., June 18 at 1 Granada Ave. in Belmont Shore. Following the cleanup, hot dogs will be served by Long Beach Firefighters and cake provided by the Community Action Team and other refreshments provided by Duthie Power Services.

The 24-Hour Long Beach HUNGER STRIKE is Noon to noon: Fri., May 20 – Sat., May 21. Raising money and awareness for local and world hunger. Hosted by Justin Rudd and his nonprofit 501c3 Community Action Team (CAT).
Rotaract Long Beach, a newly chartered community-service organization for young professionals, was recently awarded a $5,000 grant from Pepsi as part of the nation-wide Pepsi Refresh Project, an initiative by PepsiCo to award $20 million in grants to individuals, businesses and non-profits that promote a new idea that has a positive impact on their community, state or the nation.
On May 14, 2011 Roots Gourmet will be conducting a beach clean up for employees, customers and the environmentally concerned alike at Junipero Beach in Long Beach. Volunteers will meet at the Lone Sailor Memorial, on Ocean Blvd., between Orizaba and Redondo Ave.
