Long Beach Belmont Pier
The City of Long Beach will begin work this week on constructing a new, separate beach pedestrian path. The existing bike path, which has been shared by pedestrians, strollers, bicyclists, and inline skaters, will become dedicated entirely to bicyclists and inline skaters.
The Aquatic Capital of America organization is participating in the 25th Annual Coastal Cleanup day, Saturday, September 20, 2014, teaming with Roddenberry Adventures and Deep Blue Scuba & Swim Center for an underwater cleanup at Alamitos Bay.
On August 11, 2013, at approximately 12:03 PM, the Long Beach Fire Department Dispatch Center received a 911-telephone call regarding a male subject who jumped off the Belmont Pier into the ocean. The caller believed this was a suicide attempt and said the man was wearing a backpack.
Although some 4th of July celebrations started as early as yesterday, there are still plenty of opportunities to get out, enjoy the summer and see fireworks. In fact, in addition to today’s events there will be July Fourth parties continuing through Friday and Saturday.
Long Beach Transit’s popular water taxis, AquaLink, AquaLink Express and AquaBus, are back on the water from May 18 through September 29, 2013. AquaBus service is $1 one way and connects customers to popular downtown attractions like The Queen Mary, Hotel Maya, Aquarium of the Pacific, Pine Avenue Circle and Shoreline Village.

Historical Opening Marks 10 Year Anniversary of AquaLink Service
Long Beach Transit (LBT) and Catalina Express announced today the official opening of the Belmont Veterans Memorial Pier AquaLink stop. This new stop enhances existing service to Alamitos Bay Landing, the Queen Mary, and the Aquarium Pacific.

The 47th annual running of the Congressional Cup, one of the oldest and most prestigious match race sailing events in the world, is scheduled March 22-26, 2011 (Tuesday through Saturday). The one-on-one match race format, as used in the America’s Cup, is raced over a short course with intense action as close as physically possible to spectators on the Belmont Veterans Memorial Pier.
