The Downtown Long Beach Associates (DLBA) will host its annual Celebrate Downtown event on Thursday, February 13 from 5 – 9 p.m. on Pine Avenue between 3rd and 4th Streets. With the theme Celebrating the Growth and Revitalization of Downtown, this event will highlight the progress made in Downtown Long Beach, with an emphasis on Pine Avenue, and honor individuals who made a significant investment and impact in Downtown.
Our beloved friend, co-worker, brother, son, cousin, nephew, one of humanities most endearing, Eric Lackey, was recently stricken with a very severe case of pneumonia and has been hospitalized for over two weeks.
Stephanie Bryson, a 2011 graduate of California State University, Long Beach, has been named a Rhodes Scholar, the first graduate of the university to receive the internationally renowned award.
The Rhodes Trust named a total of 80 recipients worldwide, 32 from the United States, in this year’s class of Rhodes Scholars who will begin their studies at Oxford University in October 2012.

It was a gorgeous Saturday when I met a friend at Berlin in Downtown Long Beach. I had heard good things about this coffee shop through the grapevine, and it seemed like a great day to check it out.

The Long Beach Municipal Band is celebrating it’s 101st season by presenting a summer full of concerts in the park. The annual outdoor summer concert season returns to Long Beach parks starting June 30. Each of the seven weeks of the season will focus on a different theme and will be performed by the band’s 40 professional musicians and conducted by Larry Curtis.
