Long Beach book club
Mayor Robert Garcia has launched a “Mayor’s Book Club,” that will feature local writers and an annual conversation and event. His first book selection is “I’m Dyin’ Here: A Life in the Paper,” by longtime Press-Telegram reporter and columnist Tim Grobaty.
Can you dig it? “Dig into Reading” is the theme of Summer Reading Club at Long Beach Public Library. Readers of all ages can dig into great books and win prizes along the way, including a Kindle Fire. In addition, there will be weekly prizes and drawings provided by the Friends of the Long Beach Public Library.
The Los Altos Neighborhood Library Book Club invites you to discuss Plainsong by Kent Haruf. The February pick is A Taste for Death by P.D. James. The club meets on the second Saturday of each month and is open to all adults.

The Bixby Knolls Literary Society will meet again Wednesday, February 10 at 7:00 p.m. at the Expo Building, 4321 Atlantic Avenue. The book club selection for February is All the King’s Men by Robert Penn Warren.

The Long Beach Area League of Women Voters invites members and the public to an informal book discussion at the Los Altos Library (5614 E. Britton Dr., LB 90815) on Saturday, June 27, from 10 am to noon.
Anyone interested can come just to listen or bring a favorite book and say a few words about it.
