Last Wednesday, Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) Fire Chief David Ellis announced to City Manager Patrick West his impending retirement by year’s ends. Chief Ellis, an almost 30-year veteran of the fire service, is responsible for approximately 550 employees and a budget of more than $90 million.
