Long Beach Boys and Girls Club Holds Board-Walk Fund Raiser for Healthy Lifestyles

bgc-boardwalk-fundraiser On Saturday, March 5, Boys and Girls Club Board Members and Community Members will once again raise money for the Healthy Lifestyle Program. Since 2011, Board Member, Dr. Grant Uba has invited fellow Board Members and the local community to walk with him to raise funds for Club programs like the Healthy Lifestyle Program that helps members focus on the skills needed to have a healthy life while learning financial literacy, substance abuse prevention techniques.

Long Beach Boys and Girls Club Fundraiser At the final stretch of the Naples Island Board Walk, the Long Beach Boys and Girls Club had nearly $4000 in pledges.  Since the November 17th Event, collections from pledges have doubled to more than $8000 in two weeks.  And the pledges keep coming.

Garcia moves on to compete for California Youth of the Year

jasmin-garcia On Monday, February 22, Jasmin Garcia, Youth of the Year for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Long Beach, progressed to the semi-finals in the Youth of the Year Competition for Boys & Girls Clubs of America.  At Monday’s event, Garcia went up against 15 other youth from LA County in a speech and interview competition held at J Lounge Restaurant in downtown Los Angeles.
