Long Beach Celebration
The Port of Long Beach is partnering once again with the Arts Council for Long Beach for Port of Long Beach Photo, a three-part photography learning experience for amateur and pro photographers alike. The free program will be held this summer and end in October in conjunction with Long Beach Arts Month, which is an annual celebration of local arts and culture.
After a frantic Black Friday, customers are encouraged to enjoy the artisans and entrepreneurs that call Downtown Long Beach home for Small Business Saturday. A joint venture of the Downtown Long Beach Associates (DLBA) and the East Village shops, the Downtown Long Beach Small Business Saturday celebration on November 29 will feature a Makers Mart, live music, shop discounts, a photo booth, free bike valet and more.

Jim Stangeland, one of Long Beach City College’s all-time greatest coaches as well as one of the best to come out of the city of Long Beach, passed away on Saturday (Oct. 25) in Huntington Beach at the age of 92. Stangeland is a member of the LBCC Hall of Champions, Long Beach State Hall of Fame, Long Beach Century Club Hall of Fame, and the California Community College Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

In celebration of Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia’s first 100 days in office, the Long Beach Junior Chamber of Commerce is partnering with Associated Students, Inc. at California State University, Long Beach to host “A Vision for Long Beach: Day 100 Luncheon” on October 23, where proceeds will be used to create scholarships for CSULB students.
