New Hope Grief Support Community will be holding its 6th Annual Golf Tournament Fore Hope on Monday, October 3, 2016 at Recreation Park Golf Course 18 in Long Beach. The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 1pm followed by a happy hour, awards dinner, raffle and auction.
Lucy’s Boudoir, a bra & lingerie specialty shop in Bixby Knolls, and Dare to Care For The Homeless are sponsoring a bra drive for local women shelters. There will be several drop-off locations in Long Beach where new or clean, gently-used bras and new underpants will be accepted.
Jim Normandin, president, Memorial Medical Center Foundation, Tamra Kaplan, Chief Operating Officer, Long Beach Memorial, Doug Todd, son of Malcolm C. Todd, founder of the MemorialCare Todd Cancer Institute, and Cathy Kopy, Executive Director of the Todd Cancer Institute, were all thrilled with the outcome of the Dancing For Our Stars Sponsor Party and the impressive construction headway of the Todd Cancer Pavilion.
More than one thousand adults and hundreds of kids are expected to participate in the fifth annual Wrigley River Run/Walk 5K and 10K, to be held on Saturday, June 2. The first race will begin at 7:30 am. The racecourse is located in Long Beach’s historic Wrigley neighborhood, and portions of the course will follow the Los Angeles River Trail.
In an effort to bring the holiday spirit to abandoned and abused pets, It’s A Grind asks Long Beach residents to open their hearts to help support our four-legged friends. Teaming with Justin Rudd for Operation: Santa Paws, the coffee shop will have a donation box for those who want to provide toys, treats, or supplies for sheltered and rescued animals.
