Long Beach Achieves Perfect Score (Plus 9 Bonus Points) for LGBT Equality

hrc-municipal-equality-map For three years in a row, the City of Long Beach has been named one of the best cities in the nation for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) inclusion in municipal law and policy. Long Beach was one of only 38 cities nationwide to achieve a perfect score in the Human Rights Campaign’s Municipal Equality Index (MEI), placing the City in the top 11 percent in the nation.

The City of Long Beach officially launched the “Go Long Beach” iPhone app on Thursday, becoming the largest city in Southern California to offer a citywide smart phone app.

City will reimburse residents who lost gas services

water leak causes gas shut off The City of Long Beach is offering each residence affected by the gas line in North Long Beach that was shut off for safety reasons a housing reimbursement of up to $75 per night, per household, for each night they are affected.  In addition, the City is offering each household a meal reimbursement of up to $6 per person, per meal each day to the point gas service is restored.

Unidentified water leak impacts gas service for more than 200 LB homes

water leak causes gas shut off Earlier today, Long Beach Gas and Oil Department and Long Beach Water Department staff responded to a report of water leaking from a gas service line.  This was verified at several locations. For the safety of Long Beach residents, gas service was shut off at approximately 1:00 pm, impacting an estimated 222 customers.
