Long Beach Competition
Two hundred young women from across California will meet at the Westin Long Beach on Sunday, November 9, 2014 starting their journey to become the next Miss California USA® or Miss California Teen USA®. The orientation will take place from 9 a.m.

For the first time in many years, the Royal Ballet of Cambodia returns to the Carpenter Performing Arts Center at CSULB with a program entitled “The Stars of the Royal Ballet of Cambodia.” The October 18, 8 p.m. performance will feature an intimate ensemble of the best dancers and musicians in the centuries-old tradition of Khmer Classical Dance.

8th-annual “Long Beach Losers” 12-week Team Weight-Loss Challenge is set to begin. The First weigh-in is Wed., Aug. 20 in front of the Belmont Athletic Club on 2nd St. Fan page: www.facebook.com/LongBeachLosers.
Last year’s jackpot exceeded $40,000 and is split between the winning teams and individuals with the greatest percentage of weight loss.
On Tuesday, July 29th, the Long Beach Junior Lifeguard Program will have their annual Stud Ironman event. The competition is free and open to all, so family, friends, and swim teams are welcomed to participate.
Summer and Music (SAM) takes to the great outdoors with their third concert of the season – Bicycle Drive-In on Saturday, August 2 from 6-10 pm, situated on a vacant lot located on Pine Avenue between 6th & 7th Streets.
Co-produced by the Downtown Long Beach Associates (DLBA), the event will include live performances by Sam Outlaw and Rosie Harlow and the Tall Tale Boys, plus a screening of Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom.
Rotaract Long Beach will be hosting a free, public sand sculpture building workshop for the public at Granada Beach in Belmont Shore on Saturday, July 19th from 10:00am-2:00 pm. The workshop will be part of the Love Long Beach Festival hosted by Alfredo’s Beach Shack.
