The Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners elected Doug Drummond as its new Board President on Tuesday night, Dec.
The Port of Long Beach on Tuesday awarded $58,000 to 24 high school and college students who are seeking careers in fields related to international trade and goods movement.
Each year the Port offers scholarships to local students ranging from graduating high school seniors preparing to enter higher education to mid-career professionals seeking to add to their skills and capabilities.

Mayor Bob Foster announced Tuesday that he has appointed Rich Dines and Doug Drummond to the City’s Harbor Commission.
“I’m pleased to appoint Rich Dines and Doug Drummond to the Harbor Commission,” said Mayor Foster.

Former two-term councilmember and Vice Mayor Douglas Drummond was recently appointed by the Long Beach Mayor and City Council to Long Beach Transit’s Board of Directors. Drummond, a long time local leader with over 35 years of community service, 29 years in law enforcement, and over 20 years invested in university education, earned a Bachelor’s Degree from CSU Long Beach in Public Administration, a Master’s Degree from the University of Southern California, and a Doctorate in Criminology from August Vollmer University.
Former Long Beach Deputy City Prosecutor Doug Haubert officially announced his candidacy to run for Long Beach City Prosecutor on December 16.
Haubert has extensive experience in both civil and criminal prosecution, and has previously served as a City Prosecutor for other cities throughout Southern California.
The Association of Professional Flight Attendants (APFA), representing nearly 19,900 US-based flight attendants of American Airlines, has endorsed Brad Shore for City Council of Long Beach, California, 9th District.
Late last week former City Council member Doug Drummond announced his endorsement for 9th District candidate Brad Shore. A community activist, Shore is vying for the council seat against incumbent Val Lerch who is running a write-in campaign.
