Long Beach El Dorado Park
Education is the most important component in learning to co-exist with coyotes, and Long Beach Animal Care Services is inviting the community to two coyote workshops this week.
The El Dorado Dog Park will provide more consistent recreational opportunities for dogs and their human families with the opening of an expansion area that will keep space available for off leash play during maintenance periods.
The Long Beach Parks and Recreation Commission will hold a special meeting on Monday, June 15, at 6:30 pm to seek public comment, and to vote on the type of infill materials to be used for all future synthetic field projects. The Commission will also seek public comment, and to vote on potential amenities such as lights and fencing that will be considered for approval as part of the El Dorado West soccer field conversion.
Join Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine, the Daniel Hernandez Youth Foundation and California Department of Fish and Wildlife for a free Youth Fishing Derby on Saturday, November 22. El Dorado Park is located at 7550 E Spring Street.
Fifth District Councilwoman Stacy Mungo and Councilman Patrick O’Donnell, will extend the concerts at El Dorado Park two additional weeks, in partnership with We Love Long Beach and sponsors AeroPlex, Laborers’ Local 1309, and MetroPorts.
Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine and the Long Beach Convention and Visitor’s Bureau are teaming up for the fifth year in a row to offer www.100daysofsummer.org, a searchable calendar of free concerts & movies, Long Beach Sea Festival events, El Dorado Nature Center & historic site events, and ideas for spontaneous fun like hiking, biking, golf, tennis, swimming, and youth and teen programs.
Long Beach Municipal Band
Celebrate the 105 years of the Long Beach Municipal Band with a “Summer Festival of Music.” Bring a blanket, chairs, food, and family and friends for a night of music in the park. All concerts will begin at 6:30 p.m.
The City of Long Beach has been awarded a $924,000 state grant to improve wetlands and increase accessibility at Willow Springs Park by building trails, planting trees and re-establishing native vegetation. The park is located at 2745 Orange Ave.
Fifth district Councilwoman Gerrie Schipske will host a Candidate Forum for residents on Monday, May 19, 7 pm at the El Dorado Community Center – Bridge Room. Candidates for Mayor, City Attorney, and Fifth District Council have been invited.
Most people can tell the difference between a Mallard, Canada Goose, and a Mute Swan, but what about the myriad of other winged wonders that frequent the lakes, ponds, and wetlands of the City of Long Beach? The Winged Wonders banner project at the El Dorado Park Duck Pond will help visitors identify the various feathered residents while also offering information about each bird’s diet and song or call.
