Long Beach environmental education
On April 19 the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) held a press event at the Aquarium of the Pacific in which representatives of the federal agency presented the President’s Environmental Youth Award to six students from Oak Park High School, which is located about 15 miles inland from Malibu, California.

A newly launched polar-orbiting satellite will help the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) save lives and protect property as it captures data from the Earth’s land, oceans, and atmosphere.

On September 26, 2009, Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine’s El Dorado Nature Center will celebrate 40 years of Environmental Excellence. The celebration begins at 6 p.m. at the Nature Center, located at 7550 East Spring Street in Long Beach.
