Public Invited to Long Beach Gay Men’s Health Summit Saturday

gay-mens-health-summit The Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services, the LGBTQ Center of Long Beach, the National Minority AIDS Council, and the Southern California Men’s Medical Group will host the Gay Men’s Health Summit on Saturday, October 11, 2014 to address gay and bisexual men’s health issues, including a troubling and continuing rise in HIV and sexually transmitted infections.

A gala reception Saturday, Oct. 4, will kick off a month-long art exhibition showcasing the Port of Long Beach in images captured by professional and amateur photographers. The show, “Port of Long Beach PHOTOGALLERY,” will be held at the Liberty Gallery and Event Space, 6-10 p.m., at 435 Alamitos Ave., in conjunction with Long Beach Arts Month.

Residents Invited to WalkForth Event and Help Make Long Beach More Pedestrian-Friendly

walking-sidewalk The public is invited to WalkForth, an interactive event that will exhibit proposed improvement concepts that could be incorporated at Metro stations around the City.  The demonstration will include mid-block crossings, curb extensions, landscaped medians, green alleys and more for community input on Friday, September 19, at 11:00 am, on Fourth Street between Long Beach Boulevard and Alamitos Avenue.
