Long Beach food drive
Calling all Long Beach area architectural, engineering, contractor and design firms! Sponsor Long Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau is working with terri henry marketing LLC in the organization and implementation of the first Canstruction Long Beach 2014 with collections benefiting Food Finders food rescue/food bank in Signal Hill.
Councilmember Al Austin is once again partnering with more than 25 local businesses and schools in the Eighth District to collect toys and food for local families during the holiday season.
“I would like to thank our businesses and schools for participating in this effort,” Councilmember Austin said.
To celebrate National Sandwich Day and help kick off a Food Drive to benefit the Long Beach Rescue Mission, Michael’s Pizzeria, located on Naples Island in Long Beach, is offering its three-course Lunch Boxes—regularly $9.00 each–for just $4.50 on Saturday, November 3.
On May 12, local communities across America will be asked to join the U.S. Postal Service and its letter carriers to combat one of this nation’s growing problems – hunger.
“The Postal Service is pleased to continue supporting the National Association of Letter Carriers as we enter our 20th year together to help Stamp Out Hunger in America,” said Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe.
The LBFD annual food drive begins this month.
The Long Beach Fire Department will once again be participating in the annual Holiday Canned Food Drive starting November 1 through the end of the year.
This program operates very similarly to the Spark of Love Toy Drive.

The 24-Hour Long Beach HUNGER STRIKE is Noon to noon: Fri., May 20 – Sat., May 21. Raising money and awareness for local and world hunger. Hosted by Justin Rudd and his nonprofit 501c3 Community Action Team (CAT).

The Long Beach Cinematheque is teaming up with Downtown business owners to present an outdoor screening of Richard Donner’s 1978 classic Superman. The family-friendly movie night includes a food drive to support the dedicated and important work of Long Beach-based food bank Food Finders.
