This year the Port of Long Beach turns 100 years old. To start the new year and the Centennial celebration, the Port has launched a new website marking a century of progress from humble beginnings to one of the world’s busiest seaports.
Thousands Attend Green Port Fest 2010 Open house is one of the largest events of its kind in the region.
From wide-eyed toddlers to grandma and grandpa, plus everyone in between, guests of all ages got a rare behind-the-scenes look at the second busiest seaport in the country during Green Port Fest 2010 in Long Beach, Saturday, October 2.The free annual event, one of the largest of its kind, is an opportunity for the public to learn more about the Port’s operations and environmental programs in a fun, street festival setting.

Free parking will be provided by the Long Beach Convention Center in the large open air lot by E. Shoreline Drive.

The Port of Long Beach’s transformation into an environmental leader among seaports worldwide began five years ago this month with approval of the Green Port Policy.
The Port had been pursuing environmental programs, but the Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners wanted more.
Get a behind-the-scenes look at one of the busiest seaports in the world at the 5th annual Green Port Fest, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. October 3, 2009, at the Port of Long Beach.
The free event features tours of the Port by boat and train, as well as dozens of interactive exhibits, a showcase of Port cargo-handling machinery, family-friendly entertainment and children’s activities.
