Long Beach Marathon Winner and Related Run for Soldiers in Iraq

lb-marathon Photo by shaghaghi Jason Gutierez took advantage of good conditions and won the 26th running of the annual International City Bank Long Beach Marathon, held Sunday through the streets of Long Beach. Gutierez, originally from Colombia and who now lives in Anaheim, finished with a time of 2:19:21 under mostly overcast skies and mild temperatures.

Aquarium of the Pacific to host One-Mile Kids Fun Run in association with the Long Beach Marathon

arts in the long run On Wednesday August 11, 2010 from 5:30-7:30pm at the Long Beach Museum of Art, many of Long Beach’s heavy hitters will be joining forces for a very important cause: Arts in the Long Run. “Arts in the Long Run” is an event hosted by the Arts Council for Long Beach in partnership with We Love Long Beach and The Jazz Angels to raise awareness about recent drastic cuts to community-based  arts programs, as well as in-school and afterschool arts education and kickoff “We Love Long Beach Arts,” a charity campaign that will raise funds and help restore funding to community and school based arts programs in Long Beach.
