Westerly School’s dedicated leadership class and the energetic children from Precious Lamb Preschool got together for a day of inspiration and motivation by way of a traveling career day.
As the economy continues its slow recovery, many people continue to struggle to find and keep good jobs. Even in the toughest of times, however, Goodwill Serving the People of Southern Los Angeles County (Goodwill SOLAC) has reason to celebrate.

Another group of individuals completed their training last Friday, Sept. 7, from Goodwill, Serving the People of Southern Los Angeles County’s (Goodwill SOLAC) Loss Prevention Training Program at the 15th class graduation ceremony at its main office at 800 W.
Long Beach Summer Night Lights is returning to Drake Park, Admiral Park and Martin Luther King Park starting in July 2012. The program is looking for Youth Squad members and for non-profit Contractors.
Centro CHA is calling all youth between the ages of 16-18 to apply under our Youth Squad Summer Internship Program.
The Harbor WorkSource Center is conducting a hiring event for current openings for CLASS A DRIVER positions. Pacific Gateway offers free services to both businesses and job seekers through the Harbor WorkSource Center, and is partnering with CRST,one of the largest trucking companies in the United States, to help fill available positions.
The Hire-A-Youth program matches job-ready youth with local employers. Employers can still participate in the 2011 program, which is offered and supported by the Pacific Gateway Workforce Investment Network.
“I would encourage other businesses to participate,” said Vicki Arreguin, Director of Sales at Hotel Current in Long Beach.
The Pacific Gateway Workforce Investment Network’s no cost, hands-on Construction Jobs Training Program is now available.
“Job training programs are key to rebuilding our economy,” Mayor Bob Foster said.
CARF International announced that Goodwill Serving The People of Southern Los Angeles County (Goodwill SOLAC) has been accredited for a period of three years for its Community Employment Services, Job Development, Job Supports, Job-Site Training, Employment Services Coordination and Employment Skills Training Services.
On Thursday, July 14, 2011 the Long Beach Airport (LGB) celebrated the grand opening of its new parking structure with a rooftop ribbon cutting ceremony. The structure boasts 1,989 spaces and a 247-space surface parking lot.
