One of the four Magellanic Penguin chicks born at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach has officially been named Skipper. Skipper was named after one of the main penguin characters from the upcoming DreamWorks Animation/20th Century Fox animated film Penguins of Madagascar.
Abandoning his sleigh for a trip to Parkers’ Lighthouse via a Spirit Cruises Yacht, Old St. Nicholas is due to arrive at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 6th for an annual benefit that has become a favorite tradition at Parkers’ Lighthouse over the more than 20 years that the restaurant has been hosting Santa’s Breakfast.

To continue the $1.2 billion overhaul of the Metro Blue Line, the region’s oldest light rail system, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) plans four weekend closures that will affect travelers to Long Beach.
The Downtown Long Beach Associates (DLBA) announced the new Board of Directors for the 2014-2015 Fiscal Year today, including Executive Committee and non-voting advisory members.

The ride’s organizer, Noble Pursuit, has formed a dream team with the Center for Women’s Cardiac Health & Research, part of the MemorialCare Heart & Vascular Institute at Long Beach Memorial, to promote awareness of heart disease as the leading health concern for women.
