Ken Blanchard, one of the most influential leadership experts in the world, will be the featured speaker at a breakfast seminar on “Leading the Ethical Organization” on Tuesday, June 28 at the Hyatt Regency Long Beach.
On Monday, Governor Jerry Brown’s proposed State Budget recommended drastic cuts at all levels. The Long Beach Chamber will be paying close attention to the Governor’s budget proposal as pending discussions and decisions loom in the State Legislature to determine what is best for Long Beach and California.
Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach appointed, Randy Gordon, President and CEO of the Long Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, to Chair of the Miller Children’s Advisory Board, succeeding Jay Davis. Mr. Gordon will oversee the 30-member board, as well as its Fund Development and Quality Board Committees.

The Long Beach Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Business Networking Lunch featuring Long Beach Chief of Police, Jim McDonnell as the guest speaker.
Chief McDonnell is a 28‐year police veteran with a history of innovative leadership and community outreach, has taken the lead as the new Chief of Police for the City of Long Beach.
On Tuesday May 25, 2010, the Women’s Business Council will host its Annual Scholarship Dinner.
Throughout the year the Women’s Business Council has raised money to be able to present scholarships to some outstanding women students at Long Beach City College and California State University, Long Beach.
Dr. John Kashiwabara, who served on the Port of Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners from 1996 through 2002, has died. He was 88.
Dr. Kashiwabara was a family physician whose active civic involvement included Boys and Girls Club of Long Beach, the 49ers Athletic Association, Long Beach City College Foundation, Long Beach Century Club, the Downtown Long Beach Lions Club, The California Conference for Equality and Justice, the Long Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and the Long Beach-Yokkaichi Sister City Committee.
