Long Beach Fire Chief Mike DuRee today announced the appointment of Capt. Gonzalo Medina, a 19-year veteran of the Fire Department, as Marine Safety Chief, effective December 5, 2014.

In celebration of Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia’s first 100 days in office, the Long Beach Junior Chamber of Commerce is partnering with Associated Students, Inc. at California State University, Long Beach to host “A Vision for Long Beach: Day 100 Luncheon” on October 23, where proceeds will be used to create scholarships for CSULB students.
The Long Beach Junior Chamber (LBJC), in partnership with the Long Beach Police Foundation (LBPF), as well as with Assistance League of Long Beach and Target Stores is preparing for the 18th Annual “Shop with a Cop” children’s shopping spree set for Saturday, August 18 at the Target Store located at Atlantic Avenue and 33rd Street in Long Beach.
Gourmet food trucks are returning to Long Beach by popular demand! It was clear with the overwhelming success of last year’s two Long Beach Street Food Fests that participants and attendees alike wanted another helping. On July 9th, LA and Orange County’s preeminent mobile eateries will once again roll in to scenic Rainbow Lagoon Park with doors up from 10:30 a.m.
The LB Jr. Chamber of Commerce Charitable Foundation recently held two LB Street Food Fests that welcomed thousands of hungry attendees to Long Beach and featured over 25 gourmet street food trucks, including the Grilled Cheese Truck, Great Balls on Tires and the stars of the Food Network show The Great Food Truck Race, the Nom Nom Truck.

Today, with the current budget concerns, teachers are wondering how, or if, they are going to be allowed to continue their jobs. Some teachers are taking it upon themselves to seek out the answers. Recently, 27 Long Beach area teachers were recipients of grants to fund classroom supplies and other classroom related expenses.
The 2010 California Junior Chamber convention takes place this weekend, February 19-21. Young leaders throughout California will unite in Downtown Long Beach to participate in training and leadership development activities.
