The DLBA invites residents to the Belmont Pool Plaza today, Friday, August 10, 2012 at 4pm for the Mark Bixby Memorial Dedication.
Local metal artist Patrick Vogel created a stainless steel statue shaped in the form of a wave to represent Mark’s love for the ocean and depict his life, as a wave at its crest – powerful and ready to break.

Carrying forward the torch for Mark Bixby’s bicycle and active living legacy the non-profit advocacy group Bikeable Communities joins with Vice Mayor Suja Lowenthal, CSULB Sustainable Transportation Coordinator Elissa Briggs Thomas, and Mobility Coordinator Charlie Gandy to invite our local community to an interactive group dialogue on how we can use the “Livable Streets” model to help make Long Beach a more vibrant, thriving, healthy and desirable place for everyone.
