Last week Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger announced the appointment of Naomi Rainey, 59, of Long Beach, to the Advisory Commission on Special Education.
Rainey is a member of the Long Beach City College Foundation Board of Governors and serves on the Foundation Grant and Annual Fundraiser committees.

On Tuesday, June 16, the League of Women Voters, Long Beach Area, is presenting its Making Democracy Work Award with a reception and awards ceremony at the Long Beach Main Library Auditorium from 6 to 7:30 P.M.
