The Rose Park Neighborhood Board elects 2014-2015 officers. The Rose Park Neighborhood Association (RPNA) representing over 22,000 residents and property owners and home to two historic districts of Rose Park and Rose Park South held its annual officer elections.
Fifth district Councilwoman Gerrie Schipske will host a Candidate Forum for residents on Monday, May 19, 7 pm at the El Dorado Community Center – Bridge Room. Candidates for Mayor, City Attorney, and Fifth District Council have been invited.
Volunteers are needed for a Community Clean Up hosted by Councilmember Suja Lowenthal on Saturday, March 22 from 9:00am to 12:00pm along the East Seventh Street corridor. Activities will include mulching 125 newly planted trees, litter pick up, chalk stenciling with youth at transit stops, small business meet & greet teams and Go Long Beach reporting crews.
To help promote public safety and community engagement, Downtown Long Beach Associates’ (DLBA) President and CEO Kraig Kojian announced Friday, the implementation of a Community Watch Group (CWG) Starter Kit, which is designed to prevent crime through community awareness and open communication between residents, businesses and the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).

Second Sundays in the Village, kicked off in June, is a free monthly community event organized in partnership between Councilmember Al Austin and the Virginia Village Business Association.
The California Heights Home and Garden Tour returns Sunday, October 20, 2013, from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Check in begins at 9:30am at Longfellow School, 3800 Olive Ave. Guest speaker presentation at 10am.
Presented by the California Heights Neighborhood Association (CHNA) and sponsored by local realtor, Lewis Ebersole, the tour showcases five vintage homes, two charming gardens and a refreshment house in the California Heights Historic District of Long Beach, consisting mainly of modest Spanish, Tudor and other revival style homes dating from the early 1920s.
The Beachrunners’ Inn is a spacious single-family home built in 1913 that has been restored to highlight the characteristics found in Craftsman homes of the period. In just a few weeks, Long Beach residents and visitors will have a chance to discover the history of one of Long Beach’s oldest and most beloved Bed and Breakfast’s at a party celebrating their 100th anniversary.
