Long Beach PARK(ing) Day
The City of Long Beach encourages the community to participate in the annual event called “PARK(ing) Day.” In cities around the world on Friday, September 21, participants will temporarily transform parking spaces into public parks and social gathering spaces.
The City of Long Beach will be hosting its official 2011 PARK(ing) Day on Friday, September 16, 2011. Since its inception in 2005, PARK(ing) Day has blossomed into a global experiment in remixing, reclaiming and reprogramming parking spaces for social exchange, recreation and artistic expression.

The Recreation Society at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) will host its third annual PARK(ing) Day event on Friday, Sept.
It’s been fun celebrating with our neighbors this summer on 4th Street and surrounds—from the 4th Street In Motion Bike Fest in May, to PARK(ing) Day this past September! We’ve a few more things up our proverbial sleeves for October: 4th Street Zombie Walk Presented by MondoCelluloid & 4th Street “Dia de Los Muertos“ Celebration!
Join us on 4th Street to celebrate the annual global Park(ing) Day! On Friday, September 17 from Noon – 4pm we’ll be transforming the ‘Edsel Park’ parking lot at 4th and Cherry Streets into a garden setting with fresh veggies and plants for sale, entertainment and lounge-y benches where you can chill for a bit.
