Long Beach pedestrian safety program
The Long Beach Police Department conducted a pedestrian safety and education operation on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm. Officers assigned to the Department’s Traffic Section deployed in areas with a high volume of pedestrian traffic.
The Long Beach Police Department’s Traffic Section will conduct a pedestrian safety operation on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 in areas with a high volume of pedestrian traffic. Officers will conduct traffic stops on both drivers and pedestrians who violate the Vehicle Code, but instead of a citation, the violators will be given a verbal warning and a handout on pedestrian safety.
The Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center has designated Long Beach a Silver-Level Walk Friendly Community for its walkability initiatives and programs. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration and FedEx, Walk Friendly Communities is a national recognition program aimed at recognizing communities for their commitment to pedestrian safety.
