The public is invited to the unveiling of a new “Historic Pine Avenue” sign that spans Pine Avenue between 4th Street and 5th Street, today, Friday, March 24, at 7:00 pm. The free ceremony will feature the two-story-high sign being illuminated.
Vice Mayor Suja Lowenthal and Councilmember Lena Gonzalez see great potential in a critical but almost forgotten corner in Downtown Long Beach. Both representatives in the Downtown wish to see the southeast portion of Pine Avenue and Ocean Boulevard come alive with pop-up retail, tourist wayfinding, historical, art or other type of activity similar to what is being done in New York, San Francisco and San Diego.
Councilwoman Lena Gonzalez invites Long Beach residents and the community to a free Day of the Dead event on Pine Avenue on Saturday, November 1, 2014. The celebration will take over two blocks of Pine Avenue between 6th and 8th Street from 2 pm to 10 pm.
Summer and Music (SAM) takes to the great outdoors with their third concert of the season – Bicycle Drive-In on Saturday, August 2 from 6-10 pm, situated on a vacant lot located on Pine Avenue between 6th & 7th Streets.

Futbol fans will fill the streets of Downtown Long Beach today, Tuesday, July 1 to cheer for our home team in the World Cup. Downtown Long Beach Associates (DLBA) will host the first World Cup on Pine Avenue watch party on Pine Avenue between Broadway and 3rd Street from 9 a.m.
The Downtown Long Beach Associates (DLBA) is continuing its 2014 Taste of Downtown series on June 4 & 5 from 6-10 p.m. on Pine Avenue between 1st and 3rd Streets. The event will feature sample sized portions of signature dishes from more than 25 Downtown restaurants, along with beer, wine and live music performed by Moonsville Collective.
Starting Sunday, June 1, Long Beach Transit service changes will commence. In addition to usual adjustments, the Passport route will be on a long-term detour as the City of Long Beach works on the Pine Avenue Improvement project which is scheduled in segments through April 2015.

On May 30, 2013, Long Beach police officers responded to the 200 block of South Pine Avenue in regards to a 1-month-old infant that was not breathing. The infant was transported to a local hospital and pronounced deceased. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office investigated the case as a suspicious death.
Hillgrass Bluebilly Southern California and Long Beach Folk Revival Festival to host a special evening of folk, blues and country music at a limited seating engagement in Belmont Heights. You may remember renowned Minnesota folk-blues artist Charlie Parr as one of the much talked about performers at the inaugural Long Beach Folk Revival Festival which took place on Old Historic Pine Avenue this past November.
