Local authors return to Portfolio Coffeehouse in January for Long Beach Writers Read, a public reading and discussion where they will share select portions of their recently published works and answer questions from the audience.
Join Portfolio Coffeehouse, the premiere coffeehouse of Long Beach, for a weekly series in December featuring local authors reading, answering questions and selling copies of their recently published works. The series will run from 7-8:30 pm on consecutive Mondays: December 5, 12 and 19th, 2011.
Bring your family, friends and bikes for a fun-filled day of art and culture in Long Beach’s Cambodia Town on Saturday, November 19th. To encourage community members to bike to the Third Annual Cambodian Arts & Culture Exhibition, the city’s Bike-Friendly Business District program has partnered with Cali Bike Tours to offer a free community ride from Retro Row to the festival.

Portfolio Coffeehouse will present its first Comedy Night on Monday, July 12 from 8pm-9:30pm. The comedy event will be hosted by Marc Marini with special guests Tim Palmer, Chris Adams and Brooks Wheelan.
If you’re just starting out in comedy, open mic night is a good chance to hone your craft while enjoying and learning from the jokes of other comedians.

Originally hailing from Arizona, Livingston relocated to Long Beach and is an undergrad at CSULB, working toward a BFA in drawing and painting.
On Monday May 17, 2010, the 4th Street community lost one of its own. Pete Toulios, owner of Lil Devils Boutique, passed away suddenly and some of the folks from the 4th street businesses and friends have banded together to organize a benefit fundraiser in his honor.
Long Beach is well on its way to becoming the most bicycle friendly city in the country, and the community is encouraged to participate in 2010 California Bike Commute Week from May 17 through May 21.
In celebration of this week and to encourage more people help clean our air by riding their bike to work, the City of Long Beach, Long Beach Cyclists, and California State University, Long Beach are hosting three “Pit Stops/Energizing Stations” to encourage, assist and thank people who ride their bike to work on Thursday, May 20, which is Bike to Work Day.
