Many people are aware that high blood pressure, age and a sedentary lifestyle in adults may increase their risk of stroke. However, few know that children also are at risk for experiencing a stroke, especially those with serious blood disorders.
On July 23rd, nearly a dozen celebrities strapped on helmets and raced a fully stocked NASCAR in the 2nd Annual “Kids Against Cancer” Night at the Toyota Speedway at Irwindale. More than 100 patients and families from the Jonathan Jaques Children’s Cancer Center (JJCCC) at Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach came to the event where proceeds from ticket sales and a silent auction of sports memorabilia benefited pediatric cancer research.
