Long Beach Silverado Park
An ambitious project to plant 6,000 new trees in seven years got under way Saturday as community volunteers joined City officials in planting 50 new trees at Silverado Park and adjacent Muir Elementary School on the Westside.

The indoor pool at the Belmont Plaza will remain closed for up to four months while necessary repairs are made to issues that have recently been discovered. Swim lessons and water exercise classes typically scheduled at the indoor pool have been cancelled, but visitors to the outdoor pool, which is heated to a comfortable 82 degrees, are still encouraged to engage in lap swimming.

The office of 7th District City Councilmember James Johnson and the Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine invite the public to attend a ceremony for opening of the new Silverado Park Skate Spot on Saturday, January 8 at noon.
Swim lessons begin this week in Silverado Park.
New sessions of swim lessons began Monday at the Silverado Park Pool. Lessons will continue through November 11.
Classes are held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and include Pre-K Aquatics 1 and 2, Levels 1-8, Parent and Child 1 and 2 and Adults.
The public is invited to a meeting of the governing board of the Intermodal Container Transfer Facility rail yard’s Joint Powers Authority on Oct. 26, 2010 6 p.m., at the Silverado Park Social Hall, 1545 West 31st St., Long Beach 90810.
Kids can plan on a summer of fun-filled activities, while parents relax knowing their youngsters are in a safe, supervised environment in Summer Day Camp Programs provided by the Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine Department.
