Long Beach skateboarding
On Saturday October 19, 2013 Long Beach Skate will host “Los Garbage,” art show. The show will feature the works of sixteen artists.
The artists featured in the “Los Garbage” show are all professional designers and artists within the skateboard and action sports industries.

Lakewood SK8, the action sports program at First Baptist Church of Lakewood, will hold its eleventh annual skateboarding, scooter and BMX competition Saturday, June 23 from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM and Sunday, June 24 from 1:00 – 8:00 PM.

Flip Skateboards has chosen Long Beach Skate to film a scene for their next video launch, scripted around the idea that this is “the local shop” for their international professional skateboard team. The cornerstone of any good skate community is the local skateboard shop.

The Tony Hawk Foundation has chosen Long Beach’s’ McBride Skatepark as the pledge-drive beneficiary for its annual “Tony Hawk: SHRED Presents Stand Up for Skateparks” fundraiser in Beverly Hills, October 17.
Tickets for the April 16-18 Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, featuring six races including the IZOD IndyCar Series, are now available for purchase at the downtown Long Beach ticket office, located at 300 E. Seaside Way.
The IZOD IndyCar Series, featuring stars such as Danica Patrick, Helio Castroneves, Dario Franchitti, Scott Dixon and Marco Andretti, is the undeniable headline of Grand Prix weekend.
An all new full-size outdoor basketball court, with new fencing and bleachers, will soon be built just east of the 14th Street skate park, with funding support from Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe. Last week, Knabe announced a commitment of $200,000 for three parks and open space projects in the City of Long Beach.
