Sixth District Councilman Dee Andrews, along with the Department of Parks, Recreation & Marines launches improvements to Veterans Park this month. The park is located at 101 East 28th Street, in the City of Long Beach.
Anthony Christopher Sota of Anaheim was booked on felony charges of contacting a minor with the intent to commit lewd acts and sending harmful matter.
The Long Beach Police Department arrested a travel softball coach in connection with the crime of contacting a minor for lewd acts and sending harmful matter to a minor, and detectives believe additional victims may exist.

Sixth District Councilman Dee Andrews, along with the Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation & Marine, Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services, St. Mary Medical Center, Long Beach Branch NAACP, Long Beach Ministers Alliance, Long Beach Boys & Girls Club and Long Beach YMCA will host the Annual Juneteenth Celebration, from 11:00 am – 2:30 pm, on Saturday, June 16th, at Martin Luther King, Jr.
Long Beach Parks, Recreation & Marine offers many recreation programs at the six programmed parks in the 9th City Council District. Residents can view monthly calendars of events for each 9th District park on the Department’s website.

The Long Beach State softball team will play nine games during its fall schedule with six games in October and three games in November, including the annual Alumni Game on homecoming on Nov. 13.

On Saturday, September 18, The City of Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine hosted this year’s Baseball and Softball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at Blair Field. The ceremony included an unveiling of the new Wall of Fame at 11:30am, a Meet and Greet with the recognized players at 12:30pm, and the official honoring and announcements of the inductees at 1pm.

When Cal State Long Beach (CSULB) Business Professor Thomas Rhoads retired at the end of the 2009-10 academic year, he ended an astonishing record of 54 consecutive years of family service to the university – 37 of his and 17 for his father, who was also a faculty member in the campus’ College of Business Administration (CBA).

The Surf and Sun Softball League of Long Beach/Orange County announce the beginning of the Fall Ball 2009 playing season. This year Fall Ball will begin with an open invitation to a “Play Day” for all who are interested in learning the game and meeting others in the community with a desire to play softball.
As the Major League Baseball all-stars took the field last week at Busch Stadium in St. Louis to embark on an American past time, so too did a bipartisan group of female members of Congress and female employees from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the Republican Congressional Campaign Committee.
