149 Teams In Place to Compete at 2nd Annual Long Beach Solar Grand Prix

2nd annual Fifth District Councilwoman Gerrie Schipske and the 5th District Solar and Sustainability Taskforce are sponsoring the 2nd Annual Long Beach solar Grand Prix. 149 teams comprised of over 500 Long Beach Middle and High School students will compete for top-spots in speed and design on Saturday, April 9, 2011.

Long Beach Solar Tour shines light on local sustainability efforts

The 5th District Solar and Sustainability Taskforce announced that the 2010 Long Beach Solar Tour is returning on Saturday, October 2 to educate the community about the benefits of solar technology.

Long Beach Solar Grand Prix orientation planned for Jan 23

solar-grand-prix More than 260 students and their coaches are expected to attend the orientation workshop on how to participate in the first annual Long Beach Solar Grand Prix announced 5th District Councilmember Gerrie Schipske. Schipske and her 5th District Solar and Sustainability Task Force are sponsoring the Solar Grand Prix on April 10, 2010 which provides students, grades 6-12, a chance to design and build a solar-powered model car and then complete a race in the shortest possible time using the available solar power.
